
2019 Edition Editors
Chuck Carlise is a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Westminster College for the 2018-19 school year, teaching primarily creative writing courses and advising Janus. He is the author of In One Version of the Story (New Issues Poetry & Prose, 2016), and two chapbooks, Casual Insomniac and A Broken Escalator Still Isn’t the Stairs, both in 2011. Though he’s from the Midwest, he doesn’t remember being this cold as a kid. Either way, he’s excited get to spend a year with these guys.


Nadia Askar is a senior from Kansas City, Missouri obtaining her degree in English with a creative writing concentration, and double minoring in journalism, media, and publishing, and psychology. She has written for Janus in previous years, as well as been a part of the editing team, and is currently holding the position of Managing Editor. After graduation, Nadia plans to seek employment in the publishing world, but only if a spot as one of Gru's minions does not open up.
Markesia Bailey is a sophomore at Westminster. She was born and raised in a small town in Arkansas by the name of Helena-West-Helena. She's majoring in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and minoring in Psychology.


Therasia Brautigam is a junior from Russellville, Missouri. She is majoring in Secondary Education and English with a minor in Journalism. She is a member of Education Association and Westminster Advisory Technology Team. During her free time, she enjoys eating tacos and reading lots of books.
Ryan Clavin is a junior at Westminster majoring in Business Management and Business Communications. He is the Literary Editor for Janus and is a part of the Westminster Baseball team, Student Foundations, and Student Ambassadors.​


Cailey Edwards is a junior from Hominy, Oklahoma. She is studying English with a minor in Journalism/Media/Publishing. In her free time she enjoys writing articles for The Columns and consuming large amounts of coffee while watching true crime documentaries.
Lauren Fuentes is a Junior at Westminster from Chicago, Illinois, majoring in English and minoring in Journalism, Media, and Publishing. She is in the sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, Westminster's Panhellenic Council, and is the Finance Committee Chair.


Jessica Jia is a senior studying Business Communication with a minor in Mathematical Science. She enjoys taking pictures, writing poems and editing videos in her spare time.
Brenden Pursell is a junior from Edwardsville, Illinois. He is majoring in English with a minor in Journalism, Media, and Publishing. He is a writer for the campus newspaper, The Columns. In his free time, he enjoys playing music and writing short stories.


Julian Richardson is a senior from Columbia, Missouri, studying business communication with a minor in music. He contributed poetry to Janus' 2018 Edition.
Sarah Rivers is a sophomore from St. Louis, Missouri. She is majoring in Business Communications and is the business editor for Janus. Some things she likes to do for fun is go out to eat and hang out with her friends.


Chelsea Sharp is a senior majoring in English with a creative writing track and minoring in Health and Wellness & Women Gender Studies. She is a Student Ambassador, Peer Health Educator, WestMo News Storyteller, Remley Center Intern, Health and Wellness Center Intern, and is part of the dance team and Black Student Union. She joined Janus because she loves to write and is also currently working on her thesis project that is currently involved with Janus.
​David Sissac is a junior majoring in Psychology at Westminster and is a member of the fraternity, Phi Delta Theta. He is the submissions editor for Janus. He has been a part of both Literature Club and Janus since he was a freshman at Westminster. He has always had a love for writing and thought that the Westminster community could do more with the students' talents. In his spare time, he loves writing poetry and beating everyone he meets in Super Smash Brothers.


Nicholas Spain is a senior majoring in Business Comunications and minoring in English. He is a web editor for Janus and is happy to use his experience and knowledge of learning to market on social media to aid in the promotion of his peers' talents and work through the literary journal. He believes that everyone has a voice that should be shared, whether that be through written word and/or art.
Lauren Williams is a Junior at Westminster from Springfield, Illinois, majoring in English with a track in Creative Writing and minoring in Classics and Journalism, Media, and Publishing. She is the Vice President of her sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, the Content Creator for Campus Activities Board. Her favorite book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo.
